“A salary is the drug they give you to forget your dreams.”
This never really hit me in my 20s.
I thought like most people that getting a steady paycheck was the way to go.
Security felt like the smart move. The responsible move.
But somewhere along the way, I stopped asking what I actually wanted.
I started optimizing for comfort instead of growth.
This type of job was introduced back in the 1920s and made sense for factory-line work.
But it doesn’t make sense for builders, creators, or dreamers.
Essentially, what you’re doing is trading risk for routine.
And while routine might keep the lights on, it rarely lights a fire inside you.
Before you know it, ambition is replaced by autopilot.
It’s hard to feel creative when your whole week is back-to-back Zoom calls that go nowhere.
Hard to think long-term when you’re just trying to clear your inbox.
I’m not telling you to quit your 9-to-5 tomorrow without a plan.
But that doesn’t mean you can’t start planting seeds now.
One hour a day. One post. One offer. One connection.
Don’t feel guilty about dreaming, even if you haven’t built anything yet.
Mindset is everything. It starts with believing that change is possible.
Write. Build. Coach. Start a brand.
Because the real risk isn’t walking away.
It’s staying too long and forgetting you ever wanted more.

So true, the 9-5 is a place where dreams die if you don't pay attention to them!
